Now, it sure escalates quickly when it goes from TV-14 to TV-Y7-FV. Anyways, next up for the review is Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. This is a new show which recently premiered on Disney XD. Now, I for one expect quality in my children cartoons. And some was found...
Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja tells the story of Randy, a 15-year old freshman who has been chosen to be Norrisville High's Ninja. Every 4 years a new ninja is chosen to wear a badass black suit with red across and a kickass red scarf. This show is...pretty good. Along the way we meet some annoying characters, like his best friend Howard Weinerman (Weiner? Grow up!)
Yeah, sometimes I hate stuff like that. Including fart jokes. Though to my surprise, there was not as many fart jokes to be found here. I think the plot is pretty well developed and Randy is among Finn and Dipper to have a cool book telling them secrets. The Ninjanomicon. Yeah, sounds like some kind of comic convention where people in there 40s go right? Wrong. It's a book which helps Randy with some stuff. Not mind wipes though...
There's some jokes that are so downright embarrassing you want to facepalm, but it's an overall good show. I won't continually watch it, but you know, I'd watch it if I was bored. The character designs are also great. They're done by Jhonen Vasquez, creator of Invader Zim. It's not as disgusting as Invader Zim, I mean you don't have roaches crawling in peoples hair and boogers on the lunch tables.
I especially like Randy's look. He's tall and has awesome purple hair. He's pretty cool, I like him. The Ninja's also pretty cool since they're the same guy. Overall, the humor is pretty good. The action is awesome. The characters are fairly likeable and the animation is beautiful. Earns an overall score of a B. Check it out, you might find yourself enjoying it a lot. There's one other thing I should mention. The characters use sort-of-annoying "slanguage" like "That's the cheese", "What the juice?", "That's so Bruce", etc. Very...weird. Kind of catchy though. It airs daily on Disney XD.
